the fabric of our community
The art throughout NOVEL RiNo highlights the neighborhood's industrial history while also embracing the artist-fueled revitalization that has made this one of the most sought after destinations in Denver.
NOVEL RiNo is a visual hybrid of what it means to be urban, yet approachable. Similarly, through a variety of murals, art installations, and 2d artwork, the NOVEL RiNo art collection makes the juxtaposition between grit and sophistication feel effortless.
Momentum
Jason Garcia
"Momentum, is part of our story. My public murals are adaptations of a geometric symbol found throughout the Americas in indigenous cultures. Traditionally, the Ojo De Dios or “God’s Eye” imagery is a woven textile. Making them was considered a contemplative practice. The “eye” was placed in home or along a path as guidance. While recognizing that the viewer of public art is often transient, the patterned work reinforces solidarity within community."

Dave MOMO
Moxy at NOVEL RiNo plays a sequence of colors like a sequence of notes, creating melody. All the shapes and lines are stretched vertically to emphasize the height of the courtyard space. The lyrical halftone lines are meant to unify the piece with something playful, making contrast with the structure of the colors sequences.

"I have a deep connection to this project as my first studio in Denver was located just down the street from this building. This sculpture encapsulates RiNo’s growth and change that has happened over the years that I saw firsthand out of my studio. The Rhino horns are rising up from the ground illustrating that through change there is hope." - Stephen Shachtman
Daughter of the Earth, Tea Time, Blessings Flowing
Daughter of the Earth is a reminder that much like Mother Earth, we are here to unapologetically bloom, grow, change, let go and shift as many times as we need to. Nature holds many blessings and wisdom. We are connected to her, she is connected to us. When we honor ourselves, we honor Nature; and visa versa.
Tea Time is a gentle reminder that all of our journeys are a bit all over the place. Our lives are much like Alice in Wonderland; to explore and learn to see where the journey of life takes us.. At the end of the day we are just walking ourselves and each other back home to ourselves.
Blessings Flowing is all about honoring that we are all walking altars. Our bodies are home to ourselves, our ancestors, our Spirit team and the Divine. When we stay connected to our bodies, our soul and spirit, we can receive and recognize the blessings that are rightfully ours.
